The police arrested a 42-year-old man from Meppel on Friday morning. He is suspected of involvement in the murder of then 34-year-old Halil Erol from Steenwijk in 2010. This is the second time this suspect is arrested in connection with Erol's murder, the police said in a statement.

On Thursday the police did a new forensic investigation in the Meppel home where the suspect lived in 2010. He was arrested based on this investigation, the police said.

On Wednesday 13 refugee entrepreneurs that completed Refugees Forward's incubator program pitched the plans for their startups in Amsterdam. Entrepreneur Mohammed won both first prize and the public vote with his plan to implement solar irrigation systems in his home country Sudan. Mohammed walks away with one thousand euros to invest in his business and one year of free corporate support, the startup incubator said in a press release.

A Dutch ship rescued the crew of one of two burning oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, the Dutch shipping company Acta Marine from Den Helder confirmed to NOS after reports in the Telegraaf. There were explosions on two oil tankers in the Gulf region on Thursday. The cause of the explosions has not yet been officially confirmed, but the general belief is that they were attacks.

There are "new developments" in the investigation into the downing of flight MH17, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) said on Friday in an email sent to the relatives of the people who were killed in the disaster, RTL Nieuws reports.

Exactly what these new developments are, is not yet clear. The JIT will first inform the relatives on Wednesday. After that an international press conference will be held at 1:00 p.m.

Friday will be warm but mostly cloudy, with maximums ranging between 20 and 26 degrees. There is a chance of some sunshine in the afternoon, but cloud cover will increase again by evening, bringing with them showers and maybe even a thunderstorm.

A man stabbed his wife to death in a home on Marco Polostraat in Den Bosch on Thursday afternoon. He was arrested at around 2:00 p.m., when he went to a police station to turn himself in, AD reports.

When the police went to investigate, they had to break one of the home's windows to get in. Inside they found the woman's body. No one else was in the home.

Local residents told AD that a Moroccan family, with two sons in their 20s and a teenage daughter, live in the home. "Unreal", one neighbor said to the newspaper. "They were all very quiet and sweet people."

Parents find information provided by public health institute RIVM incomplete and have doubts about institute's independence. Many young parents therefore go look for answers elsewhere, which often leads to more confusion and doubt, AD reports.

An investigation into the discovery of cocaine hidden in a flower shipment in January led to a much larger drug bust in April. Ten people were taken into custody who worked for a logistics firm at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam after 160 kilograms of cocaine was found in another flower shipment.

It was not revealed when the arrests took place, but eight of the suspects were still in custody on Thursday.

A arrestee was so impressed with the police officers in Den Helder that arrested him, that he sent the police station flowers with a 5 star review, the Den Helder police said with accompanying photos on Facebook.

What B. was arrested for, was not revealed. But he was certainly treated well. "Thanks for the good service,definitely five stars", B. wrote in a note sent with the flowers. "I just don't want to come back. Regards B."

Wednesday would have been Anne Frank's 90th birthday. The Jewish Dutch girl, whose name and diary have become a symbol for the atrocities committed in the Second World War and the call for an end to anti-Semitism and prejudice, was commemorated in various ways throughout the world.

Two of Anne's classmates, 89-year-old Albert Gomes de Mesquita and 90-year-old Jacqueline van Maarsen, spent the day at Anne's former home on Merwedeplein 37-2 in Amsterdam. There they spoke to school children of various ages, RTL Nieuws reports.
