A 12-year-old Dutch boy with no ticket and no boarding pass managed to board a British Airways plane to Los Angeles at Heathrow Airport in London on Sunday afternoon. He was caught out shortly before the plane took off, when a stewardess asked to see his ticket so she could show him to his seat, The Telegraph reports.
The police in the Gelderland town of Epe had their hands full on Monday morning trying to catch an escaped kangaroo. The animal was spotted wandering around the N309 highway. "The biped is fast and it has not been possible to catch it", the police said on Facebook.
So far the police managed to identify the kangaroo's owner. Actually catching the Australian marsupial turned out to be the the harder task. The kangaroo is still on the loose.
Motorists driving around Epe are advised to keep an eye out for the kangaroo.
Myrna Reinhard, a 24-year-old medical student from Nijmegen, died in a bizarre accident while vacationing in Vietnam this week. The young woman was electrocuted while taking a shower in the hostel where she was staying in the popular coastal town of Hoi An, AD reports.

A Dutch man was critically injured Wednesday night after he impaled himself on a fence while apparently taking a shortcut to a casino. The Almelo man was walking to a gambling house in Ahaus, Germany when he climbed over a fence that separated a playground from the casino grounds, the District Police in Borken, Germany said in a statement.
He slipped as he tried to hop the fence, and the sharp tip of the fencing pierced his thigh. He remained hanging there, crying out for help shortly after the incident happened at 12:20 a.m.
Rescue organization KNRM performed a rather odd rescue off the coast of Ameland on Tuesday afternoon. The rescue workers had to rescue a cow from the Wadden Sea. "Not an everyday job for the KNRM", the organization said on its website.
The cow was in the water near Ballumerbocht. It took the KNRM two lifeboats and over an hour to get the cow out of the water. Using one of the lifeboats, KNRM rescuers finally managed to pull the cow to the Wadden Sea dyke on Ameland, where she was pulled from the sea with a crane and placed on a cattle wagon.
The police are looking for the owner of an escaped wallaby that was spotted wandering around Winterswijk on Sunday morning. The local animal ambulance could not manage to catch him.
Passersby first spotted the wallaby at around 10:00 a.m. At 12:30 p.m. the police sent a message through citizens' notification service Burgernet, asking locals to keep an eye out for the wallaby and for the owner to come forward, according to Omroep Gelderland.
The police in Amsterdam freed a 30-year-old man who was tied to a fence next to a burning car early on Friday morning. The victim was taken to hospital with unknown injuries. How the man came to be tied to a fence, and how he sustained his injuries, is not yet known, NU.nl reports.
The fire brigade and police responded to the car fire on Tom Schreursweg at around 3:20 a.m. At the scene, firefighters and cops heard the man calling for help.

Reports of a possible explosive in a parking lot in a residential area in Maarssen sent emergency services responding to the Utrecht town en masse on Monday morning. But it turned out to be a false alarm, NU.nl reports.

The residents of a home in Schiedam had a very unexpected guest during the early hours of Monday morning. A stranger came into their home and took a shower. The police eventually removed the man from the shower, the police said on Twitter.
The police responded to the home after a report of a stranger standing in front of the home. When they arrived at the scene, the man was already inside and taking a shower.
Officers took him out of the shower and out of the home, and "guided him to his own bathroom", the police said.
How the man got into the home, is not clear.
Police in Limburg were rather busy Monday morning, dealing with the daring escape of two wallabies in Kerkrade.

A serval escaped in the Haarlem neighborhood of Meerwijk on Friday. After a weekend of roaming the city, the wild cat was found in an allotment garden in Haarlem on Monday. The local animal ambulance is currently trying to catch the animal, RTL Nieuws reports.
The serval was spotted in the garden on Sunday too, when it was seen "enjoying the spring sun", an employee of Regionale Dierenambulance told the broadcaster. The animal ambulance will install two catch cages and attempt to lure the cat into one of them.
Police in Utrecht made an unusual discovery on Tuesday when they discovered a secret tunnel running below several homes along the J.P. Coenstraat. Investigators think the 18-meter-long hidden corridor was only recently created, but residents say they have no idea how or when it was constructed.

Bystanders on the Grote Markt in Den Haag made it difficult for police to help a man who had stabbed himself with a knife, authorities said. Paramedics and officers were trying to reach a victim who had stabbed himself with a knife around 4:40 p.m.
"In the crowd, kids and various people were shooting video of someone who was bleeding profusely," police said. "We had to turn on our sirens at the scene to get the public to move to the side."
A truck driver was surprised by a strange stowaway in Aalsmeer on Monday. When the trucker, who came from Austria, stopped on Aalsmeerderweg, a cat jumped out of his truck, Dierenambulance de Ronde Venen/Amstelland said on Facebook.
Dierenambulance believes that the cat stowed away on the truck in St Georgen, near Salzburg in Austria. The adventurous critter therefore had quite a trip behind it by the time it jumped off the truck in the Netherlands.
A Hague dog decided to scare his owner and go on a little adventure on Tuesday. The not-so-good boy went missing from The Hague on Tuesday afternoon, and was later found riding in the first class compartment of the train to Leiden Central Station, the Leiden Noord police said on Facebook.
On Tuesday afternoon the police in The Hague received a report of the missing pet. The dog was last seen near the train on the station. His owner had no idea where the dog wandered off to.
A hand grenade was found in thrift store RataPlan on Van Slingelandtstraat in Amsterdam on Tuesday. The grenade was found in a box that was being unpacked by an employee. It is unclear how long the box had been in the store, Het Parool reports.
The police safely removed the explosive. According to the police, it was a real hand grenade, but it was harmless as it could no longer detonate. People living and working around the store were therefore not in danger.
The police closed down the area around the thrift store as a precaution while they investigated.
A lost wooden leg badly startled two women in Amsterdam. A "very alarmed" person called the police after she spotted a leg in the river and thought it might be a body, the police said on Facebook.
At the scene, responding officers saw two ladies waving them down. The two women pointed the officers towards the leg floating in the water, but did not dare go any closer.
A peculiar report had the police responding to a home in the Zuid-Holland community of Rijnsburg on Wednesday night. The resident reported hearing "moaning and gasping" in his home, but couldn't figure out where it came from, Omroep West reports.
The officer in the police call center could also hear the strange noises through the telephone. Officers were dispatched to the home on Oegstgeesterweg. In the meantime the resident and his neighbor walked through the home searching for the source of the noises. Earlier they clearly heard it come from the kitchen.
Attendees of a party in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam were surprised by an uninvited guest on Sunday. A rat snake was found on the dance floor, Amsterdam's Dierenambulance said on Facebook.
"It is a mystery how the snake ended up there", the animal rescue organization said.
One of the the guests was fortunately not afraid of the animal, and picked up the snake and kept it warm while Dierenambulance responded.
The snake spent the night at Dierenambulance, after which is was transferred to the reptile shelter in Zwanenburg.
A leak in a tanker containing petrolad, a collective name for oils used in vehicle engines, in Alblasserdam caused a stench in a large part of the Netherlands on Saturday. There were even complaints about the intense smell from Germany. An NL Alert was sent to warn people to keep their doors and windows closed, AD reports.
