Psychiatric prison Kijvelanden in the Zuid-Holland village of Poortugaal was partly evacuated on Thursday evening due to a fire in one of the cells. A 29-year-old man was injured in his cell, but did not have to go to hospital, NU.nl reports.
The fire was under control about an hour after it started. One floor of the prison was evacuated. The eleven people staying on that floor were taken to another floor in the building, a spokesperson for the local safety office said to the newspaper.
Four people were wounded in Eemshaven in Groningen on Thursday evening when the boom of a crane broke off while lifting heavy load. The crane was on a ship from Cyprus. The ship is used to place windmills at sea, ANP reports.
The four wounded were taken off te ship and transferred to hospital, the Groningen fire department said. How badly they were hurt, is not known.
The Inspectorate for Living Environment and Transport will investigate the incident.

The police received over 200 tips about the possible whereabouts of Jos Brech, the 55-year-old man suspected of murdering 11-year-old Nicky Verstappen in Brunssummerheide in 1998, Limburg police chief Ingrid Schafer-Poels said on Laat op één. "Most are about his possible whereabouts, or people who think they saw him. We are going to investigate them all urgently."
An Amsterdam man died shortly after being arrested on Wednesday. He was arrested on suspicion of stabbing an 18-year-old woman in district De Pijp. The woman sustained minor injuries, NOS reports.
The stabbing incident happened around 2:45 p.m. The 32-year-old man attacked the woman and fled. A 41-year-old man from Amsterdam went after him and hit him on the head with a hard object.
Twenty years after the murder of 11-year-old Nicky Verstappen in Brunssummerheide, the Dutch authorities managed to identify a suspect. The suspect is 55-year-old Jos B. from Simpelveld. The police do not know where he is at this time, and placed him on the national wanted list on Wednesday.
The discovery of a suspicious package triggered an evacuation at the army base in the Gelderland town of Oldebroek on Tuesday afternoon. No explosives were found in the package. The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that forms part of the Dutch military, is investigating, De Stentor reports.

A car crashed into the town hall of Lingewaard, located in the Gelderland village of Bemmel, during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The car contained two gas bottles, one of which exploded and caused a fire. The driver was killed, according to the police.

A car with Dutch license plates hit a mother and her two children in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium on Monday afternoon. A 5-year-old boy was killed. The mother and her other son were seriously injured, RTL Nieuws reports.

Insiya Hemani, the now 4-year-old girl who was allegedly taken from her Amsterdam home by people hired by her father, will stay in India with her father, his legal team said. A 7-year-old boy died on Monday after being attacked by a cow on small campsite De Koehoorn in the Zeeland village of Meliskerke, the police said on Twitter.
Emergency services responded to the campsite, which is located on a farm, en masse. But their attempts to save the boy was in vain. He died at the scene. Bystanders were offered victim assistance.

The police closed off Voetboogstraat and surrounding streets in Amsterdam center for hours on Thursday morning due to the discovery of a suspicious object. Officers and explosive experts were at the scene between midnight and 3:00 a.m., NU.nl reports.
