A 34-year-old Dutch tourist died after being beaten up by a group of five young people near Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The Spanish police are investigating this as a murder and are looking for the perpetrators, ANP reports.

The Dutch tourist was attacked and beaten unconscious near a petrol station to the north of the city's airport at around 5:00 a.m. on Friday. Emergency workers rushed the victim to the Academic Hospital Son Espases, where the he died of his injuries.

The court in Utrecht sentenced a 17-year-old boy from Den Bosch to two years of juvenile detention and juvenile institutionalized psychiatric treatment for killing 14-year-old in Bunschoten last year. The boy was convicted of manslaughter on Friday. He was given the maximum penalty possible for a perpetrator his age under Dutch juvenile law, NOS reports.

A 19-year-old asylum seeker from Dronten drowned in Kampen on Thursday. He disappeared while swimming in the IJssel at around 3:00 p.m. His body was found later in the evening, NU.nl reports.

The young man was swimming with friends. When he was about 20 meters away from the quay, he disappeared underwater and did not come back up. A massive search was launched, involving several emergency services. After a few hours of fruitless searching, a dreg team from Urk was called in to help.

Three people were injured when a gunman opened fire into a coffee business Today on Dusartstraat in the popular Amsterdam-Zuid district of De Pijp at around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. One victim was seriously hurt, the other two sustained less serious injuries, witnesses told Het Parool.

According to the newspaper, this was an attempted assassination. Several sources told Het Parool that the target - the man who was seriously injured - is an Dutch-Pakistani known as Saqib who belongs to a group of criminals that regularly visits Today.

A large fire broke out in a multi-company building in Nunspeet on Wednesday afternoon. Toxic substances were measured in the smoke and the surrounding area was evacuated. The around 300 residents of 120 homes had to spend the night elsewhere. A historical Martinair plane crashed in South Africa on Tuesday afternoon. One person was killed and around 20 were injured, according to local media. Three Dutch are among the injured. They work for Lelystad aviation museum Aviodrome, who the plane belongs to, according to newspaper AD.

The plane, a Convair 340 from 1954, took off from the Wonderboom airport in Pretoria around 4:30 p.m., almost immediately releasing clouds of smoke. The plane crashed a short time later. It hit a dairy farm, local residents say on Facebook.

A man with a knife threatened police officers in the police station on Van Leijenberghlaan in Amsterdam on Tuesday evening. He was overpowered and arrested, NU.nl reports.

The man walked into the station at around 8:15 p.m. with a knife in his hand. He threatened the officer behind the desk. Other officers came into action and overpowered the man.

The suspect is known to aid agencies, according to the newspaper. He is in custody for investigation

A man was arrested for human trafficking on the N65 near Oisterwijk on Sunday night. He had an Eritrean woman and her two young children in the van with him, Omroep Brabant reports. 

A witness noticed something wrong with the van's license plates at around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and called the police. A patrolling police car was in the area and pulled the van over. The number plates turned out to be falsified.

One person was injured in a kitchen fire in a home in The Hague over night. The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Seven homes were evacuated, ANP reports.

The fire started in a home on Groot Hertoginnenlaan. The two residents of the home were rescued from the balcony with a crane. One was taken to hospital, the other was treated at the scene by paramedics. 

The fire was quickly under control and extinguished. No other homes were damaged. What caused the fire is not yet clear.

A Ryanair flight to Edinburgh in Schotland was evacuated at Eindhoven Airport on Monday night due to a bomb threat. The plane was about to depart when a threatening letter was found. It turned out to be a false alarm.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport security, searched the plane with sniffer dogs. No explosives were found.

A man was arrested in Steenwijk on suspicion of human trafficking. He offered passersby sex with an underage girl on parking lot De Ruinen along the N375 in Ruinerwold on Saturday, the police said in a statement on Sunday.

The police tracked the man down based on an anonymous tip, which included the license plate of the man's car, received on Saturday evening. The suspect was found in Steenwijk, along with an underage girl. She was questioned and transferred to a safe place.

A man was seriously hurt in a shooting in a chalet on Berkenlaan in Zutphen on Sunday night. He was rushed to the academic hospital in Nijmegen in critical condition, under police escort, De Stentor reports.

The shooting happened around 9:10 p.m., in a chalet located in a residential area and right next to the Baudartius College location on Berkenlaan. The perpetrators fled in a black car. So far nothing is known about the background of the incident.

Tim Scholten, 19 from Noord-Brabant, passed away over the weekend after being hit by a car early on Friday morning. The accident happened on Sliema boulevard on Malta, AD reports.

At around 4:50 a.m. on Friday a motorist lost control of his car and drove onto the pavement on Sliema boulevard, where Tim was walking with three Dutch friends, two Brits and two Croatians. Tim was seriously hurt and had to be resuscitated by bystanders while emergency services responded.

The other three Dutch and the two Brits sustained minor injuries. The Croatian women were unharmed.

The Prosecutor in Rotterdam retrieved a journalist's telephone data in an effort to find his sources. This happened in October 2017 and February 2018 in a criminal investigation into a police officer suspected of leaking information to the journalist, NU.nl reports.

Several homes on Geertesplein in the Zeeland town of Kloetinge were evacuated on Thursday night after a man threatened one of the residents. The police searched the area for some time, but neither man nor weapon was found, Omroep Zeeland reports.

Multiple police units responded to Geertesplein at around 8:45 p.m. The homes on the top floors of an apartment complex were evacuated as a precaution, according to the broadcaster. 

A spokesperson for the police could not say anything about the nature of the threat to Omroep Zeeland.

The body of a woman was found in a home on Bronsgietersdonk in Apeldoorn on Wednesday evening. The police "seriously take into account" that she was killed in a crime, a spokesperson for the police said to De Stentor.

The police responded to the home around 7:00 p.m. So far the police said nothing about how the woman died. No arrests were made. 

Neighbors told De Stentor that a married couple lived in the home. Whether the husband was home on Wednesday evening is not clear. Local residents described them as pleasant neighbors.

A collision between a passenger car and a truck on the N203 between Uitgeest and Castricum left three people dead and two injured on Wednesday afternoon. The accident happened around 6:00 p.m.

All five victims were in the passenger car, according to the police. The male driver and two female passengers were killed. Two male passengers were injured and taken to hospital. The severity of their injuries is unknown. 

The truck driver, from Germany, escaped unharmed. He was taken to a police station for questioning.

The area around the Abe Lenstra Stadium in Heerenveen was closed down on Wednesday morning due to a bomb threat directed at football club SC Heerenveen, the police said. The police are at the scene with sniffer dogs.

"It was a serious report, which is why we are investigating", a spokesperson for the police said to NU.nl. "We haven't found anything yet, that can take some time." The police are searching a large area. The spokesperson could not say where the threat came from.
