Sven Kramer wore during his 10km race of last Sunday the suite that the Dutch skaters will wear during the Winter Olympics.

The suite, which should have been a secret for a while, was handed out to Kramer for testing. Kramer used it while training and then decided to wear the suite at the Dutch championships.

He impressed friend and enemy with his race which resulted in a new track record of 12 minutes and 46.96 seconds. This time was also the second best time ever achieved on this distance.

Champion horse Bonfire has died on Monday morning at the age of 30. The most well-known horse in the Netherlands, besides the horse of Sinterklaas of course, won with his rider Anky van Grunsven a gold medal at the Olympics in Sidney in 2000.

Clarence Seedorf is still a little embittered when he thinks about his last period at the Dutch national team. He feels unrecognized by the former national coaches Marco van Basten and Bert van Marwijk.

The 37-year-old international, who at this moment plays as a midfielder at Botafago in Brazil, shared his reflections about that period on Monday evening in the program of Johan Derksen at RTL7.

“Van Basten made a big mistake with me,” Seedorf told. “I don’t say that he was a bad trainer, but I didn’t like the way how he treated the players. Bad people management.”

Sven Kramer has shown this weekend that he is in a top shape. During the Dutch championships he not only won the 5 km but also impressed friend and enemy with his victory on the 10 km.

The 10 km race was between Kramer and last years champion Jorrit Bergsma. Although in March, Bergsma beat Kramer at the 10 km, at this race he had to be happy with silver. Kramer accelerated in the last four rounds with such a speed that he achieved a new track record (12.46.96) in Thialf. The old track record was from 2007 (12.49.88), also for Kramer.

On Friday the Dutch national championships ice skating will start. Multi gold medal winners Sven Kramer and Ireen Wüst are ready for the job.

On Friday the men will start with the 5 km and the 500 m races. For the 5 km race Kramer will race against Jan Blokhuijsen.  Blokhuijsen was last years' runner-up, so the 9th race will be a very interesting one. 

On the first day of the Dutch championships the women only take the 1500m. Ireen Wüst will ride against Laurine van Riessen in the 13th match.

Kromowidjojo announced on Thursday that she will no longer train with national coach Marcel Wouda. The announcement is the newest of changes within the Dutch swimming team.

The reason that Ranomi Kromowidjojo gives, is that she is not 100% sure that the cooperation between her and Wouda is good enough for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next year.

Almost at the same time Bastiaan Lijesen also stopped the cooperation with Wouda.

Both Kromowidjojo and Lijesen have announced to prefer to train under the leadership of the  assistant of Wouda, Christiaan Sloof.

At the final day of the world cup events in Doha, Ranomi Kromowidjojo won the 100 meter freestyle and so won her second gold medal during the events.

The Olympian champion, who won a day earlier already the 50 meter freestyle, was too quick for her competitors. She leaded the race from the start and ended with 52.29 seconds. This time is about one second slower than the world record of 4 years ago, but that was achieved with the now forbidden polyurethane swimming suit.
