The Netherlands is planning to give up its unused, extra greenhouse gas allocation, the allowable amount the country may release into the atmosphere. In doing so, the Dutch government hopes to set an example to other countries in the European Union and those onboard with the Kyoto Protocol on climate change, the Cabinet revealed in a statement on Tuesday.

The Zaans Museum purchased a work by French painter Claude Monet for 1.16 million euros, making it the most expensive purchase in the history of the museum. Titled, "Voorzaan and Westerhem," Monet painted the piece when he stayed in the city in 1871.

The skull of Naturalis' T-Rex is is in Europe ans is currently being transported from Germany to Amsterdam, the biodiversity center announced on Tuesday. The 66 million year old fossil has been scanned by an industrial CT scanner at the Fraunhofer EZRT in Germany. The skull is now on it's way back to the United States, via Amsterdam, for preparation.

The Wildlife Management Unit in Gelderland has hired a company to kill 1,600 geese in 7 Gelderland nature reserves. To do so the company will use a device designed to break the animal's neck. The Gelderland faction of the Partij voor de Dieren is distrustful of this device and has asked the provincial government for clarification.
