The municipality of Dongeradeel, which includes Dokkum, gave Kick Out Zwarte Piet permission to protest, but is still working out the exact conditions and arrangements, a spokesperson said to Het Parool.

American online retail giant Amazon expanded its offerings for the Netherlands on Wednesday, a long-awaited move that opens up Amazon Prime video streaming and next-day shipping for its customers. Amazon announced the move in a press release at the time of its launch.

Multiple actors are pressing charges of sexual intimidation against Dutch producer and director Job Gosschalk, crime journalist Peter R. de Vries said on RTL Boulevard. On Tuesday Gosschalk released a statement announcing his resignation and acknowledging that he "crossed boundaries" in one-on-one dealings with actors. According to RTL, this happened after the broadcaster sent him a letter containing statements from twenty sexually abused actors.

The roughly 400 Pieten helping Sinterklaas in Amsterdam's celebration this year, will be decked out in brand new, specially designed suits, the foundation responsible for the Amsterdam Sinterklaas celebration, SSIA, announced on Monday night. The new costumes were specifically designed to remove all references to slavery from the controversial character, discovered in examinations of the history behind the Zwarte Piet costume.
As the Netherlands' Sinterklaas celebrations approaches, municipalities are starting to reveal their plans on how they're dealing with controversial character Zwarte Piet. Most of the municipalities are sticking to blackface or dark brown makeup, according to AD's Piet Atlas. Amsterdam and The Hague will have no blackface Piets, with Amsterdam also designing a completely new costume. Utrecht plans mostly Chimney Piets - with faces covered in soot marks - and a few traditional blackface Piets. Rotterdam is keeping its plans secret until the day before the celebration.
Sinterklaas will have a "motley crew of helpers" in the Sinterklaasjournaal this year, NTR announced on Monday. Exactly what these helpers will look like was not announced, and the word 'Piet' was not mentioned once in the press release, NOS reports.

Dutch bank ING is still undecided if actor Kevin Spacey will be dropped as a speaker at its BusinessBoost event later this month after at least four men accused the American actor of sexually assaulting, abusing, or harassing them over the course of his career. An ING spokesperson told NL Times at the beginning of the week they want clarity and more information about the situation before making a firm decision to drop Spacey or to keep him as the event's headliner.
Dutch television presenter Jelle Brandt Corstius is preparing to press rape charges against producer Gijs van Dam, he announced on Twitter, thereby confirming that it was indeed Van Dam who he accused of raping him in an anonymized article in Trouw last week. Van Dam appeared on Pauw on Monday night, denying the rape accusations and announcing that he is filing charges of libel and slander against Brandt Corstius.
Last week Jelle Brandt Corstius told the world that he was raped while working for talk show Barend & Van Dorp in 2002. While his article in newspaper Trouw and his interview on De Wereld Draait Door named no names, the man he accused of rape is TV producer Gijs van Dam. A casting call for Dutch radio station Radio 538's upcoming Winter Olympics coverage has caused anger among many members of the Dutch-Asian community. The job posting is seen by some as specifically promoting an antiquated caricature as it identifies the need for a Korean man who "is instantly recognizable as Korean", and able to speak "defective" Dutch and English. Whoever is hired for the role will be the face of Radio 538's broadcasts on the Olympics, taking place next February in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The Foo Fighters will perform at Pinkpop next year. The American rock band is the first big name to be announced for Pinkpop 2018, RTL Nieuws reports
The band was set to perform at Pinkpop 2015, but had to cancel the performance after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg when falling off a stage two days before the Pinkpop performance. Grohl immediately said that Foo Fighters would come back to the Netherlands to make up for the canceled performance.
The city of Amsterdam launched a drug safety campaign aimed at visitors to the Amsterdam Dance Event, taking place from Wednesday to Sunday. The campaign is aimed at encouraging all ADE attendees, particularly tourists, to seek medical help if they feel unwell after taking drugs, the city announced in a press release.
An American television series is in the works for Astrid Holleeder's book Judas, in which she tells about her life under criminal brother Willem Holldeeder, Deadline reports.
"Judas is the unbelievable but true story which follows Holleeder's life as the youngest sister to Willem Holleeder, the Netherlands' most notorious criminal mob boss", the entertainment website writes. "Judas is described as a story about family, betrayal and a woman's journey of empowerment through the unthinkable."
