About 80,000 people visited the second day of the 34th eddition of the International Fireworks Festival in Scheveningen. This was announced by the organization and the police. Friday, the event attracted 60,000 visitors, thus the total number of visitors in this first weekend was 140,000.
The International Fireworks Festival is an event which is spread over two weekends. Last Friday evening, August 16, was the kick-off. Belgium and Germany were the first competitors, followed by China and Austria on Saturday.

The first unexpected occurrence of Prince on Sunday evening in pop temple Paradiso in Amsterdam, lasted for some fans only briefly. They were expelled during the concert, because they took pictures of the pop star with their iPhone. Before the show the fans were warned that this was not allowed.
Prince gave Sunday evening the first of two surprise concerts at the Amsterdam pop temple.
After an hour one of the fans twittered: "Was a nice hour Prince, until I was kicked out because of making 2 Iphone pictures. Many other people with me too."

The exhibition of the British pop star David Bowie, who currently attracts large crowds at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, will be coming to Groningen. The exhibition will start in December 2015 at the museum in Groningen, the museum announced on Tuesday.
The exhibition comprises of more than 300 objects from Bowie's personal archive and shows the life and career of the 66-year-old singer, musician and actor. Among them are handwritten lyrics, original costumes, photos and album designs.

The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWa) has brought an unexpected visit to the broadcaster VPRO in response to 'the smoke incident’ during Zomergasten. Two staff inspected the studio of Zomergasten names and even took a look at the ashtray where Hans Teeuwen put off his cigarette.
The broadcaster made a video of the visit and put it on their website. "The NVWa spoke with editor Peter van Ingen and then inspected the studio. Based on the visit, a report will be created, which will be the base for the final decision,” according to the VPRO.

"They have eaten a little more this Wednesday morning, but afterwards all of them hurried into the trees and high up the rock," says biologist Wijbren Landman of the zoo in Emmen.
The VPRO is fined for the cigarette that stand up comedian Hans Teeuwen, lit during the first broadcast of Zomergasten. The set is seen as a workplace and that means it is a non-smoking area. But what about smoking on a film set?
Smoking at the workplace has been banned since 2004. That Teeuwen casually lit a cigarette on the set of the talk show, will now have to paid by the VPRO.

Rita Reys, Dutch most acclaimed jazz vocalist, has deceased. She reached the age of 88 years. Reys died in the night from Saturday to Sunday in Breukelen. This was announced by her manager.
The singer was more than 70 years active as a professional singer on stage. Saturday July 6 was Reys, after four months of absence due to a hip surgery, still on stage in a sold-out North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam. The evening ended, according to the website of Reys with a minute long standing ovation.

Toine van Peperstraten presented Thursday night for the last time Studio Sport. It was the end of a period of nearly 20 years. Van Peperstraten (45) works from next week for pay channel Eredivisie Live.
