Minister Sander Dekker for Legal Protection is taking measures after a damaging report from the Dutch Safety Board on the case surrounding the rape and murder of 25-year-old Anne Faber. The first step he took was to withdraw certain freedoms from 21 prisoners after an initial screening, NU.nl reports.

On Monday customs officers found a "large batch" of cocaine at the office building of a Rotterdam fruit company on Keilestraat, the Public Prosecutor said in a statement.

The drugs were hidden in a banana shipment from Ecuador, according to the Prosecutor. In a number of pallets full of banana boxes, the fruit was replaced by packages of cocaine. The drugs were confiscated and destroyed.

Customs, the Tax Authority's investigative department FIOD, the seaport police and the Public Prosecutor are investigating. As far as is known, no arrests were made.

Multiple people opened fire on a group of people from a car in Weert on Thursday afternoon. The gunmen fled the scene in the car. No one was hurt, the Telegraaf reports.

The shooting happened at around 5:50 p.m. on Sint Jozefslaan. 

The police are looking for witnesses.

The police arrested a 23-year-old man in Breda on suspicion of involvement in terrorism. According to information from intelligence service AIVD, he joined Islamic terrorist movement al-Shabaab in Somalia in 2017 and was also trained by the Al-Qaeda affiliated group, the Public Prosecutor said.

It is believed that the man returned to the Netherlands late last year, according to the Prosecutor. The authorities recently determined that he was staying in Breda and arrested him.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee arrested two men from France on the A16 highway in Hazeldonk for money laundering on Tuesday. One of them had 33 thousand euros in cash hidden in his underpants, the Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for border security, said on Facebook.

A 74-year-old man has died from injuries sustained at a mass shooting in Utrecht earlier this month. The unnamed victim, from De Meern in Utrecht province, died on Thursday, according to the Public Prosecutor's office (OM).

When he was transferred from prison, the clinic was insufficiently informed about P.'s sex crime past. But the clinic also did not do a risk profile on the man, the newspaper writes.

A 71-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing his wife and getting rid of her body. The then 36-year-old woman disappeared from Siddeburen in 2010. While her body was never found, the court considered it proven that she was killed and that only her husband could have done it, NOS reports.

In a statement to the police, she said that "underestimated the impact of her words", NU.nl reports.

The woman was released again on Tuesday evening.

Shots were fired at a home on Rode Klaver in Uithoorn on Tuesday night, after bullet holes were already discovered in the home's front door on Tuesday morning. The police arrested a suspect in Amsterdam, NH Nieuws reports.

"Thanks to tips after the shooting, we got a view of a van that we found in Amsterdam", a police spokesperson said to NH Nieuws. "We pushed that vehicle off the road on Tongerenstraat." The driver of the van was arrested. A passenger fled on foot. The police are still looking for him.

So far the police received 850 tips regarding a mass shooting in Utrecht last week Monday, a police spokesperson said on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday. Due to the high number of tips, the police have not yet been able to make personal contact with every caller, but they will, the spokesperson said.

New evidence has been found showing that police detectives falsified evidence in the case surrounding the murder of Jacqueline Wittenberg in Deventer in 1999, the Volkskrant reports based on a recently surfaced CD with more than 150 photos and reports from the criminal investigation. According to the newspaper, exculpatory fingerprints were left out, a victim photo with an exculpatory bloodstain was removed, and crucial passages were left out of the police report.

A 21-year-old woman from Nieuwegein who was injured in a mass shooting in Utrecht last week, was discharged from the hospital on Monday. She will continue her recovery at home, her lawyer said on Tuesday, NU.nl reports.

"She thanks everyone for the support she's receiving, in whatever form", the lawyer said. He called on the press to leave the young woman alone and respect her privacy.

A person was seriously injured in a stabbing incident on Passage in Amsterdam Zuidoost on Monday night, the Amsterdam police said on Twitter. The victim was taken to hospital.

The police responded to the scene shortly before midnight. The area was cordoned off as a crime scene.

According to the police, the suspect is a young man between the ages of 15 and 20 years old. He was wearing a black jacket with hood at the time of the stabbing. The police are still looking for him.
