An NS bus crashed into around seven cars and a cargo bike in Bussum, Noord-Holland on Wednesday afternoon. The woman riding the cargo bike became trapped under the bus and died. No one else was injured. The child in the cargo bike was also unhurt, the Gooi en Vechtstreek police said on Twitter.

The accident happened on Comeniuslaan at around 4:35 p.m. The woman killed in the crash came from Naarden. "We wish her loved ones a lot of strength with this loss," the police said.

Thijs van Lieshout, the new commander of the Amsterdam Fire Department, received a threatening letter from his own staff. The man started as commander in October. He received the threatening letter at the end of November, Het Parool reports based on a message Van Lieshout posted on the fire brigade intranet.

An employee of Amsterdam housing corporation Stadgenoot stole millions of euros from the company, insiders told the Telegraaf. For years the senior financial worker regularly transferred between 10 thousand and 20 thousand euros into the account of her minor daughter, the newspaper writes.

The woman was caught when ING became suspicious of the transactions and notified the authorities. She used the money for gambling and luxury vacations, according to the newspaper.

The Thalys train from Amsterdam to Paris was halted in Rotterdam on Wednesday morning, after a man "acting aggressively" caused some panic on the train, the Rotterdam police said on Twitter. "Travelers heard the man call 'Allahu Akbar', and panic broke out briefly," the police said.

A witness told broadcaster NOS that the man attacked travelers and shouted 'Allahu Akbar'. Panicked travelers tried to run to other compartments. According to the police, no one was hurt and no weapons were found.

None of the companies that received mail bombs and threatening letters over the past two weeks were customers of central collections agency CIB, director Niels de Peuter said to AD on Tuesday after consulting with the police. The envelopes the bombs and threats were sent in were made to look like they came from the CIB.

A boy was injured in a stabbing at a secondary vocational school in The Hague on Tuesday, the police said on Twitter.

The stabbing happened at the ROC Mondriaan on Neckar, according to RTL Nieuws.

A police spokesperson could not tell the broadcaster how seriously the boy was hurt or whether anyone was arrested. 

The police are investigating.

The police pulled over a motorist in Waalwijk on Sunday to reprimand him for a dirty license plate, only to end up arresting him on suspicion of drug dealing. The officers found 67 bags of cocaine in a hidden area of the car. The 23-year-old man from Den Bosch's driver's license had also been suspended, the police said in a statement.

The officers noticed the car on Taxandriaweg in Waalwijk because its license plate was so dirty that it couldn't be read. They decided to pull the car over for a check.

A motorist was caught driving 209 kilometers per hour on the A16 highway near Prinsenbeek, the traffic department of the Zeeland-West-Brabant police said on Monday. Police officers had to reach speeds up to 250 kilometers per hour in the chase to bring the motorist to a stop, the police said

The young driver's license was confiscated. According to the police, the Public Prosecution's guideline is for the license to be suspended for four months. But the Prosecutor and licensing department CBR can choose to deviate from that.

An enforcement officer employed by the municipality of Rotterdam was accused of forcing a female colleague to perform unwanted sexual acts with him in 2018 and early in 2019, according to a confidential report from the National Complaints Committee on Undesirable Behavior for the Decentralized Government, which newspaper AD has in its possession. The accused man denies all allegations, according to the newspaper.

A car company in Amsterdam received a threatening letter this weekend that appears to correspond to threatening letters sent to various targets who also received mail bombs over the past week, the police said to NU.nl. The car company in question did not receive a mail bomb, the police said. 

The Netherlands forensics institute NFI is currently investigating the letter for trace evidence, as it is also doing with the other threatening letters and mail bombs.

A fundraiser was launched to support a 38-year-old mother and her 8-year-old daughter who were seriously injured in a fire in an apartment building in Arnhem on New Year's Day. The family's 39-year-old father Raymond and 4-year-old son Jelle were killed in the fire. At 9:30 a.m. on Monday, over 5 thousand euros had been donated.

Two boys arrested on suspicion of setting a fatal fire in the entryway of an Arnhem apartment building were released from pre-trial custody by a magistrate in Gelderland. The magistrate said that while there was sufficient evidence linking the 12 and 13 year old to the fire, their "personal circumstances" must also be taken into account.

Neighbors in the Kamperpoort neighborhood of Zwolle painted a grim picture of Henk W., a man found shot and killed there on New Year's Eve. One resident, Wietze, who knew the victim told RTV Oost he was "not known to be a sweetheart" and that she always suspected something like this would happen to him.

Another said it was "a relief" that he was gone.

A father and his two sons managed to wake up and quickly escape a raging house fire overnight in Oisterwijk. All three were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but there were no serious injuries, according to Omroep Brabant.

The fire was reported just after 4 a.m. on Friday. The alarm was quickly elevated to a medium-sized fire, bringing out firefighting crews and police from around the region to the house on Moergestelseweg, just east of Tilburg.

Meanwhile, the family rushed out of the home's backdoor in just their bathrobes, according to a local media outlet.

Authorities responding to a woman's reported assault in a home in Paterswolde found themselves on the defensive when a man opened fire on the investigating officers, police said. One fired back at the suspect, and eventually police managed to corner and arrest the 27-year-old into custody.

Miraculously, there were no injuries reported in the case.

Police were called to the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam Zuid on Friday morning after workers there discovered a suspicious letter matching the appearance of a series of six mail bombs sent to separate locations in the Netherlands over the past week. Authorities arrived at the five-star hotel minutes before 9 a.m., joined by an explosives expert from the police. The Defense ministry's explosives ordinance disposal unit arrived an hour later.

Mail bombs were delivered to five different businesses in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht over the past week, police said on Thursday. Each of the bombs was potentially dangerous, but luckily none of them exploded.

Authorities cautioned the public to be alert for any letters from CIB in Rotterdam. All of the suspicious, bulging letters carried the CIB logo and Wilhelminakade address of debt collection firm Centraal Invorderings Bureau. In each instance, the CIB logo and address were printed on one label, and the recipient's information was printed on a second label.
