A now 7-year-old girl from Helmond just barely survived a GHB overdose last year. A friend's father thought he was giving the girl lemonade to drink, but the glass contained the drug. The Public Prosecution Service demanded 180 hours of community service against the man in court on Tuesday, RTL Nieuws reports.

Ukraine and Canada have joined a lawsuit relatives of people killed in the MH17 disaster filed against Russia at the European Court of Human Rights, Sander de Lang, one of the lawyers representing relatives in this case, confirmed to NU.nl after a report in AD.

The surviving relatives filed the complaint against Russia in 2016, holding the country liable for downing the Malaysia Airlines flight over eastern Ukraine on 17 July 2014. On April 4th, the European Court of Human Rights announced that it would handle the complaint.

These passages could reveal state secrets, and if he does not remove them, charges will be pressed against him, the AIVD confirmed to NU.nl after a report in the Volkskrant.

The Amsterdam police suspended its seventh employee in six weeks. The 55-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of violating his official confidentiality, corruption and computer intrusion, the police said in a statement.

The Amsterdam team for Security, Integrity and Complaints are investigating, under the guidance of the Public Prosecutor, the police said.

A man was found dead in a home on A.H. Verweijweg in the Zuid-Holland town of Berkel and Rodenrijs on Monday. The police arrested no less than 14 people on suspicion of a criminal offense. Exactly what they are suspected of, the police did not say.

Emergency services responded to the home at around 7:00 a.m., local residents said to the Telegraaf. "I was lying in bed and it woke me up", a neighbor said. "Then I quickly went outside to look and saw that everything was covered in police tape. I was sent away and later men in white suits came."

She is pleading for the Dutch government to allow her children back to the Netherlands - even if it is without her, she said to newspaper Trouw.

A 37-year-old man from Beverwijk was seriously injured when he was briefly abducted in his hometown on Saturday night. A total of four suspects were arrested, the police said in a statement. Witnesses report shots being fired. 

The police responded to a report of a man being forced into a delivery van on Melis Stokelaan in Beverwijk at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday. Responding officers spotted a delivery van on Beneluxlaan. When the driver noticed the police, he sped off. The police gave chase.

The Moeder Theresa church in Hengelo was destroyed by a fire during the early hours of Monday morning. The fire is now under control, though firefighters are still working on extinguishing it completely. The building can be considered lost, according to the fire brigade, Tubantia reports.

The residents of an apartment building on Jakob Goldsmidstraat in Oss were woken by an explosion on Monday morning. The blast caused "considerable damage to the facade of one of the apartments", a police spokesperson said to Omroep Brabant. As far as is known, no one was hurt.

The explosion happened at around 4:30 a.m. on Monday. What exactly exploded, is being investigated. The police spokesperson could not tell the broadcaster if this was an accident or a crime. "But a few things have happened."

An 18-year-old girl who went missing from Epe during the early hours of Saturday morning, was found dead in the outskirts of Oene on Sunday afternoon. She died in an accident - no crime was committed, the Gelderland police said on Twitter.

The young woman never came home after a party in the Gelderland town. She was last seen at around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, according to NU.nl.

People in Amsterdam received a frightening wake-up call when a large explosion rattled windows and shook floors early Saturday morning. The blast took place on the Korte van Eeghenstraat in Amsterdam Zuid at about 4:25 a.m.

There were no serious injuries, though two people were treated by ambulance personnel at the scene, according to broadcaster AT5. The explosion caused property damage to buildings and vehicles, police said. A reporter for the broadcaster said the explosion occurred beneath or next to a parked car in front of the Park View Hotel.

At least two of the ten men suspected of involvement in an attack on the Amsterdam building of newspaper De Telegraaf last year, were also involved in two murders, the Public Prosecutor said in the first introductory hearing for the case around the Telegraaf attack on Thursday, NU.nl reports.

Police in the Dutch province of Limburg cast a wide net to snare as many criminal suspects as possible in a major stop-and-search operation targeting drivers and vehicle passengers on Thursday. Among the 17 people arrested during the day were suspects taken into custody for human trafficking, weapons charges, and drug charges.

One person was found with over 18 thousand euros in cash, and was detained on suspicion of money laundering. “Another driver stood out for carrying a large amount of chemicals used in the preparation and production of hard drugs,” police said.

A Ukrainian special operations unit arrested a former military commander of the pro-Russian separatists last week. The man, 58-year-old Vladimir Tsemach, served as commander of air defense in the city of Snizhne, near the site from where the missile was fired that shot down Malaysia airlines flight MH17 in 2014, the Volkskrant reports based on information from sources.

Two people were killed on Friday after an explosion blew out the facade of an apartment in Vlaardingen, police confirmed. The incident took place shortly after 9:10 a.m. on the Van der Waalstraat in the Zuid-Holland city about five kilometers west of Rotterdam.

The two victims were initially reported as injured in the blast, which then led to a fire. Neighbors said a family with children was living in the apartment where the explosion took place, according to local broadcaster RTV Rijnmond.

A person was killed in a shooting in Houten, Utrecht on Thursday night. The shooting happened at around 11:00 p.m. in parking lot Schonenburgseind, the Utrecht police said on Twitter.

The victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car when someone opened fire on the car, RTV Utrecht reports. A woman was behind the wheel of the parked car, according to AD. Bystanders heard her screaming. As far as is known, she was not hurt. 

Witnesses told the newspaper that one perpetrator fled from the scene, possibly on a scooter.
