Ajax fans have been threatening the management and the staff members of the football club for years, according to independent research from the Volkskrant. The paper reveals that 16 people who are or were tied to Ajax spoke of a culture of intimidation created by fans of the F-side, which is the old hard core, and VAK 410, the new hard core. Most threats are not reported to the police.

Police in Cambodia say they have arrested a man in relation to the murder of Daphna Beerdsen who was found dead on Monday. The 32-year old man is said to have confessed, a police spokesperson reports to the Phnom Penh Post.

For the first time, a Dutch national has been arrested because he fought in Syria. The Public Prosecution Authority (OM) announced on Tuesday that the 20-year old man from Amsterdam was arrested last week. According to the OM, he was carrying "terror-inciting texts" with him and planned a trip to Syria. The man is not suspected of recruiting other people for jihad.

Six members of Satudarah motorcycle club Satudarah were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of weapons possession or weapons trade. Two women were also arrested. The eight suspects had to announce themselves at the police station in East-Netherlands and were there arrested, a spokesperson for the East-Netherlands police says.

Police on Monday arrested three men in connection with a shooting incident that left one man dead in Rotterdam Friday.

A 29-year-old man from Rotterdam had died during the shooting incident at Paul Krügerstraat in Rotterdam-Zuid. Police say officers had been directed to the area around 6.50pm after receiving reports of shots being fired there. When they reached the scene, the Rotterdammer was lying on the ground, bleeding. He died on the spot.

The 31-year old Daphna Beerdsen was found dead in her home in Phnom-Penh, Cambodia on Monday. She was found with stab wounds. Her 18-month old baby was wounded and is now in hospital, the ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms.

UPDATE -- The man who took his baby-son hostage in the town of Herten in Limburg this morning has surrendered.

Police reported around 1.45 today that the 38-year-old man gave himself up; his son -reportedly about three months old- is doing well. The child has been reunited with his mother and will later undergo a medical check-up.

Police and other emergency services were on alert from around 10.00am after reports came in that John E. took the child hostage. The man who according to neighbors is labile, was unarmed.
