KLM had to apologize for a tweet posted by KLM India on Wednesday. The tweet, posted on the 5th anniversary of the MH17 disaster, spoke about what seats you are most likely to die in if you're in a plane crash.

People returning from holiday run an increased risk of being infected with the legionella bacteria, because they underestimate the dangers of taps that have not been used for more than a week, according to Techniek Nederland, the entrepreneurs' association for the installation sector. The association advises returning holidaymakers to flush their pipes well before they use them, NOS reports.

People caught speeding in France risk having their driver's license confiscated. This happens to around 100 Dutch per year, caught driving at least 50 kilometers over the speed limit, broadcaster BNR reports based on figures requested from the French Interior Ministry. In 2017, a total of 104 Dutch speeders had their licenses confiscated in France.

According to the strict French penalty point system, people caught speeding can receive up to 6 penalty points against their license, depending on how fast they were going. This is enough to result in a 3 year driving ban.

A 53-year-old employee of the Public Prosecution Service in The Hague was arrested in Germany on June 18th on suspicion of drug trafficking. She is suspected of smuggling two kilograms of cocaine, 6 kilograms of amphetamine, and 10 thousand ecstasy pills into the country, the German Public Prosecutor confirmed to AD.

The drugs were found in the woman's car. Her daughter and son-in-law were also arrested, the German Prosecutor said to the newspaper. The three are suspected of wanting to sell the drugs in Germany. They are still in custody.

On Friday the Supreme Court held the Dutch State liable for the events that followed the fall of Bosnian enclave Srebrenica in 2015, but to a lesser extent than the court in The Hague did in a previous ruling. The court previously ruled that the surviving relatives could claim 30 percent of damages suffered from the State. The Supreme Court reduced that to 10 percent, NU.nl reports.

Four young kids abducted from The Hague by their father last month, are now staying at their parents' old home in Raqqa, Syria, according to their mother Rasha Saleh. She desperately wants to go and get them back, but she doesn't dare to. "He wants me to come by so he can kill me", the 28-year-old mother said to Omroep West.

The municipality of Amsterdam closed the Hotel Parkview on Korte van Eeghenstraat indefinitely on Thursday. Two incidents involving explosives at the hotel seriously affected public order and put local residents in danger, which is why Mayor Femke Halsema decided to close the hotel immediately, the municipality said in a statement.

Utrecht and Amsterdam will be the first Dutch places to have an official LEGO store. Both stores will open later this year, though exactly where they will be located is not yet clear, NU.nl reports.

LEGO franchises previously opened in the Netherlands, but this is the first time a LEGO store will open that is managed by LEGO itself. The new stores in Amsterdam and Utrecht will be entirely devoted to the colorful Danish building blocks. The stores will also host building competitions and allow customers to create their own LEGO figures.

A large number of GP posts say that patients are becoming increasingly aggressive towards their doctors. Some 60 percent of the directors of these house doctor posts say that they receive telephone threats every week and that patients are more likely to threaten violence than five years ago. Almost a third of GP posts deal with physical violence at least once a year, newspaper Trouw reports based on its own research.

The police arrested a 27-year-old man in Maastricht on Wednesday on suspicion of involvement in terrorism. He is suspected of inciting a terrorist crime in the Netherlands and cooperating in training people to become a terrorist, the Public Prosecutor said on Thursday. 

The police launched an investigation into the man last month, after information from intelligence service AIVD. The suspect used social media to spread jihadist and violent propaganda, including calls to commit violence, the Prosecutor said.

Two 12-year-olds who went magnet fishing on the Amstelkade in Amsterdam on Wednesday afternoon, pulled a firearm out of the water, the Amsterdam Zuid police said on Twitter.

The kids immediately called emergency number 112. Responding officers identified the firearm as real and called in forensic investigators, who took some samples and then confiscated the gun.

The police praised the children for their prompt action in calling the authorities, calling it a "good deed".

A man was found dead in his home in the Arnhem district of Persikhaaf on Wednesday. The police believe the man had been lying dead in his home for months. His neighbors are shocked. "We thought he was on vacation in Spain. Unbelievable", a local resident said to Omroep Gelderland.

Four young children were abducted from The Hague by their father last month, the police announced on Thursday. The police believe the father took them to Syria.

The missing person reports for 2-year-old Tala, 3-year-old Sharifa, 5-year-old Berivan, and 7-year-old Hain Ahmad state that their father picked the two younger kids up from school under "false pretenses" on June 21st. He then picked up the two older children and they haven't been seen since. It is believed that he took them to Syria.

People who violate the so-called burka ban can be fined 150 euros, the Public Prosecution Service said in a prosecution directive. The ban,officially called the Partial Ban On Face Covering Clothing Act, applies to wearing face-covering clothing in public spaces like government buildings, hospitals, schools, and on public transportation. It takes effect on August 1st.

The Netherlands can look forward to real summers weather next week, with high temperatures and little chance of rain. There is even a good chance of a regional heatwave in the southeast of the country, according to Weeronline.

Maximums next week will range between 25 and 30 degrees. The southeast may even see temperatures climb to 34 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. The chance of rain and thunderstorms is very small, according to the weather service.

The general director of Dutch public works department Rijkswaterstaat is very concerned about the increasing aggression road users are showing road inspectors. Three-quarters of road inspectors are confronted with verbal abuse or rude hand gestures almost every day, and so far this year there's been 11 reports of physical violence against road inspectors, general director Michele Blom said to De Telegraaf.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte will meet with United States president Donald Trump in the White House for the second time this evening. During the meeting, Rotterdam collector Bert Kreuk will hand Trump a D-Day flag he is donating to the United States. The main topic on the agenda for Rutte and Trump is trade, though Trump will likely also bring up the U.S. request to allies for a military contribution in Syria and to increase pressure on Iran, NOS reports.

Five years ago today Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board, including 196 Dutch. The victims of this disaster were commemorated at the National MH17 Monument in Vijfhuizen on Wednesday afternoon.
