Stormy and wet weather in NL; Code Yellow on the coast
Netherlands residents can expect cloudy and wet weather on Wednesday, which will turn stormy during the afternoon. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for strong winds in the coastal provinces starting at 4:00 p.m. There may be gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour.
The rain started in the west and will spread across the entire country, reaching the southeast by mid-morning. During the afternoon, the showers will increase in intensity and may turn into thunderstorms.
Afternoon temperatures will climb to around 17 degrees, with a moderate to strong southwesterly wind. The wind will be very strong along the coast in the afternoon, with gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour.
Overnight will also see showers and maybe some thunder. Minimums will drop to around 11 degrees, with a strong southwesterly wind that could reach storm strength in the IJsselmeer area.
The rainy weather will leave for Germany on Thursday morning, but the wind will remain strong. KNMI issued a code yellow warning for the entire country. Maximums will be around 11 or 12 degrees.
Friday will be noticeably colder with some rain or showers and quite a lot of wind. The weekend will be temporarily drier, but the wet weather will return from Monday. Temperatures will be slightly above average for the time of year at around 15 degrees Celsius.
