Snowfall expected to impact morning rush hour
Wednesday started out with showers all across the Netherlands, ranging from possible hail along the coast to snow in the south and east of the country. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for Noord-Brabant, Limburg, Gelderland and Overijssel, warning motorists against icy roads.
"Chance of slipperiness. All traffic may be hindered. Adjust your driving behavior. Follow weather reports and warnings," KNMI warned.
ANWB also warned that the winter weather may hinder traffic during rush hour on Wednesday, though fewer traffic jams are expected in the middle and south of the country due to the spring holiday. By 7:40 a.m., the organization reported that there were 214 kilometers of traffic jams on Dutch roads.
The southeast of the country may see a temporarily white world on Wednesday, but the snow will melt away relatively quickly. The winter showers will dissipate as the day progresses and the son will break through the clouds. There will be a moderate to strong westerly wind and maximums will range between 5 an 7 degrees.
