Three teenagers hurt in Breda stabbing; Man arrested
Two boys and a girl were injured in a stabbing incident in Breda on Sunday night. One of the boys was injured to such an extent that he was rushed to a hospital in Rotterdam. The other two victims were taken to a hospital in Breda. The suspect fled the scene, but thanks to many tips, a 30-year-old man from Breda was later arrested, the police said in a statement on Monday morning.
The stabbing happened at around 9:00 p.m. in a park near the Argusvlinder. The police responded to the scene after multiple reports of people being injured in a fight in a park. First responders found the three teenagers, aged 15 and 16, with multiple stab wounds in the park. They were stabilized at the scene before being rushed to hospital.
Seven other teenagers were taken to a police station to give witness statements. According to the witnesses, a fight broke out between multiple people in the park. The victims tried to separate the fighting parties. A man grabbed a knife and started stabbing around himself, injuring the three teenagers, and then ran off.
The police immediately spread the man's description on social media. Thanks to tips that came in, the investigating team managed to identify the suspect. The 30-year-old man was arrested in his Breda home at around 4:00 a.m. on Monday. In his home the police found a knife and an item of clothing that matched the description witnesses gave. The suspect is in custody for further investigation.
