Heat wave over; normal summer weather expected this week
After a week of record breaking heat, the Netherlands can look forward to more normal summer weather in the coming days. The official heat wave ended on Sunday, though regional heat waves in the east of the country will likely continue until Tuesday, according to Weeronline.
Monday starts out cloudy with some light rain in some areas. By Monday afternoon, the clouds will have cleared away and sunshine will prevail across the country. Afternoon temperatures will range between 22 and 27 degrees.
Tuesday will be hotter, with sunshine and maximums between 25 and 30 degrees expected. In the afternoon there may be some thundershowers. "After that we'll get Dutch summer weather with sometimes sun, but also regular showers", Weeronline said.
The official heatwave in De Bilt lasted six days, from Monday to Saturday. It was short but extremely hot, including the hottest temperature ever measured in De Bilt at 37.5 degrees on Thursday, and the hottest temperature ever measured in the Netherlands at 40.4 degrees measured at the Gilze Rijen Airbase on Thursday.
