Hot week ahead for NL; temps well above 30ºC from Tuesday
The Netherlands can look forward to a week full of sunshine and high temperatures. Maximums will reach well above 30 degrees every day from Tuesday, Weeronline expects. The week will be dry and sunny, with little to no rain on the horizon.
On Monday maximum temperatures will climb to between 23 and 25 degrees in the coastal areas, and to between 26 and 29 degrees in he rest of the country. On Tuesday the temperature will rise to around 29 degrees in the northwest and up to 34 degrees in the rest of the country. Wednesday and Thursday will be even hotter with inland maximums between 35 and 39 degrees expected. The eastern parts of Brabant and northern parts of Limburg will see the highest maximums.
With such high temperatures on the horizon, a number of heat records may be broken this week, according to the weather service. The current record for highest temperature ever measured in July stands at 38.2 degrees, measured in Maastricht on 2 July 2015 and in Arcen on 26 July 2017. The record for the national weather station in De Bilt stands at 35.7 degrees, measured last year and in 2006.
The sunshine and high temperatures also mean an increased risk of sunburn. The sun power will be around 7 every day this week, which means you can burn after spending 10 to 15 minutes in the sun. Remember to wear sunscreen when spending time outside.
