One person sustained minor injuries when a fire broke out in a container home for students on Odeonstraat in Almere on Monday morning. 36 container homes were evacuated. Initial reports said that someone was trapped inside the burning container home, but that turned out not to be the case, NOS reports.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the evacuated residents can not return home yet, according to the broadcaster. They were initially given shelter at a police station, before moving to the city hall, where alternative accommodation was arranged for those who couldn't spend the night with friends or family.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. The fire likely started outside the home, a spokesperson for local safety office Veligheidsregio Flevoland said to the broadcaster.
