Elderly man beaten during morning stroll
Two men were arrested on suspicion of assaulting an elderly man out for a walk Sunday morning. The victim, 80, was kicked and beaten, and he wound up in the hospital with a broken nose.
He went out for a walk near his home in Maassluis, Zuid Holland, when he exchanged words with two men in a parked car. The conversation quickly turned into an argument, leading to the attack.
A witness provided police with a clear description of both men, authorities said. "Officers approaching the location saw one of them coming around the corner of a flat on Sparrendal," police said. "He was quickly apprehended."
The second suspect turned himself in at a local police station.
The suspects, aged 19 and 26, were still in custody Sunday night. Police said the two were from also from Maassluis.
