Strong winds trigger code yellow warning for coastal provinces
The coastal provinces in the Netherlands can expect strong winds on Thursday afternoon and evening, with gusts between 75 and 90 kilometers per hour. National meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow weather warning.
The warning is in effect starting from 3:00 p.m. In the west the wind should die down during the course of the evening, according to the KNMI. The Wadden area can expect strong gusts until early Friday morning. "Traffic and outside activities may be hindered. Follow weather reports and warnings', the KNMI advises.
The strong wind may affect air traffic at Schiphol. On Monday strong winds resulted in over a hundred cancelations and hundreds of delays at the airport.
