Fire in Rotterdam apartment building leaves 8 hurt

Eight people were injured in a fire in an apartment building in Rotterdam during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Seven were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. The eighth was injured when he jumped from a window. He was taken to hospital with unknown injuries, ANP reports.

The fire broke out on the third floor of the apartment building on Watergeusstraat and spread to several homes. A total of seven homes were evacuated. The fire left two of them uninhabitable. The residents of the other five were allowed to return home after the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
