Suspect in teen girl's school shooting ordered back into custody, but can't be found
A 25-year-old man suspected of involvement in the murder of 16-year-old Humeyra Oz at her Rotterdam school has to go back into custody, the court in Rotterdam ruled. But the man has disappeared without a trace. "We are looking for him", a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service said to NU.nl on Friday.
The man was arrested late last month and released again a few days later. The Prosecutor appealed against the magistrate's decision to release the suspect, and on Thursday the court ruled that he had to be taken back into custody. But now he can't be found.
Humeyra was shot to death in the bicycle storage of the Rotterdam Designcollege on December 18th. Two 31-year-old men from Rotterdam are currently in custody for her murder. Bekir E. was arrested shortly after the shooting, a few kilometers away from the school. The police believe he was the gunman. The other suspect was arrested on the 24th of December.
Since May the teenage girl filed multiple police declarations against E. for stalking, threats, and assault. The last declaration was filed on December 11th, after E. sent her photos of himself with a firearms. On the day of her murder, Humeyra had an appointment with the police to give further information needed to arrest the man. She was gunned down 45 minutes before the appointment could happen.
