Two hurt in Breda shooting; home locked down
Two men were injured in a shooting in a home on Amerstraat in Breda on Saturday. Mayor Paul Depla ordered the home locked down on Sunday after an amount of soft drugs was also found in the home, ANP reports.
The home involved is occupied by the girlfriend of one of the victims. The police responded to a report of a shooting incident at around 7:35 p.m. on Saturday. At the scene emergency services found a 25-year-old man from Oosterhout with a gunshot wound. His girlfriend was also present at the time. The injured man was taken to hospital. A short time later, the police were informed about a second gunshot victim, a 26-year-old man from Dordrecht.
The police closed down the area around the home for investigation. In the context of the investigation, the 25-year-old man's girlfriend's home was also searched. A quantity of soft drugs was found inside. The woman was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning.
Mayor Depla decided to place the house on lockdown with immediate effect, due to the combination of the shooting incident and the discovered drugs. "The safety of local residents is paramount. You simply do not want this in your city and certainly not in the middle of a residential area", he said. "The police are now investigating exactly what happened. With the closure of the building the situation has now stabilized."
