Two killed in Drachten house fire

Two people were killed in house fire on Handwerkerszijde in Drachten during the early hours of Thursday morning. Seven people were taken to hospital by ambulance for examination, NU.nl reports.

A number of people fled to the roof of the home during the fire. They were rescued. Whether they sustained any injuries is not clear.

The fire started at around 2:45 a.m. and firefighters now have it under control. The cause of the fire is not yet know. The home can be considered lost.

So far nothing is known about the identity of the victims. The police are investigating.
