Girls, 13 & 14, missing in Leeuwarden; parents very concerned

Two young teenage girls from Leeuwarden have been missing since the weekend. The police and the parents of 13-year-old Emily and 14-year-old Kirsten are very concerned.

The two girls ran away from a treatment center in Leeuwarden at 11:20 p.m. on Friday. Both left on foot and carried a bag with them.

"Unfortunately, our daughters have not yet been found, please keep an eye out for them! We are so terribly worried... Girls where are you? Call me. Big kiss, daddy", Kirsten's dad Sander Wessels wrote on Twitter.

"These are young girls", a police spokesperson said to the Telegraaf. "That raises questions. I can imagine that the families are worried."

According to the newspaper, this is not the first time Emily ran away. She ran away on the weekend of July 20th, and was previously missing in 2017. Last year an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with her disappearance.
