Two hurt in Landgraaf stabbing

Two people were injured in a stabbing on Broekhuizenstraat in the Limburg town of Landgraaf on Tuesday evening. One victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A 65-year-old man was arrested as a suspect.

According to newspaper AD, the suspect threatened the residents of a home on Broekhuizenstraat before walking up the street and breaking the window of a car. A woman came out of an adjacent home and was stabbed by the suspect. A man came from the same house and was also attacked.

The man sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital in a trauma helicopter. The woman was also taken to hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown.

After the stabbing, local residents managed to overpower the suspect and hold him until the police arrived. The man was arrested.

The police are investigating exactly what happened.
