Hottest May night ever measured in Netherlands
On Tuesday the minimum temperature at De Bilt measured at 18.0 degrees Celsius, making it the warmest May night ever measured in the Netherlands, according to Weeronline. The previous record was 16.9 degrees dating from May 24th, 2012.
This warmest night record follows a record warm day. Tuesday was the hottest May 29th since temperature measurements started in 1901 with a maximum of 30.7 degrees in De Bilt.
The coming days will remain exceptionally warm for this time of year with maximums ranging from 24 degrees on the west coast to locally 30 degrees along the eastern border. The high temperatures may cause some afternoon thunderstorms, but likely not so rough as the storms that crossed the Netherlands on Tuesday, according to the weather service.
