Rainy weather to give way to sunshine by weekend

While the Netherlands can expect more rain and thunderstorms over the coming days, the weather should clear up to sunshine by the weekend, according to Buienradar.

The south of the country saw a lot of rain on Tuesday, and the showers will keep falling for the rest of the week. "But that drizzly weather is slowing pulling away through the south", Jennifer Faber of Buienradar said to RTL Nieuws. "There is not a lot of wind, so that's why the showers sometimes stay above a place for a long time."

The clouds are expected to clear up almost everywhere in the Netherlands on Wednesday afternoon, with maximum temperatures climbing to above 20 degrees. On Thursday the dry weather will give way to rain and thunderstorms through the course of the day. Friday also has a good chance of thunderstorms.

But the outlook for the weekend is much sunnier. "Saturday and Sunday will have wonderful weather", Faber said, according to the broadcaster. "There is a lot of sun and extremely high temperatures for this time of year." Maximum temperatures of 25 degrees and above are expected. The usual temperatures for late May are around 18 degrees.
