Breda station evacuated over bomb threat
The police evacuated Breda Central Station due to a bomb threat on Tuesday evening. The station was evacuated around 7:00 p.m. Shortly after 9:00 p.m. the police announced that no explosives were found and the station was released.
While the police investigated, bus and train traffic around the station on Gravinnen van Nassauboulevard was halted. Passengers were seen waiting around the stations while police officers combed the area, according to newspaper AD.
"We always take a bomb threat seriously", the police said on Twitter. Explosive experts and a sniffer dog were deployed in the search.
Now that the police are certain that the station is safe, an investigation was launched into the person who reported that there was a bomb in the station.
Train traffic is getting back on track. NS expects that the first trains will depart from the station from 9:45 p.m. In the mean time buses were deployed to take passengers to their destinations.
