Amsterdam cafes closed after shootings
The city of Amsterdam closed two cafes indefinitely following shootings at both cafes during the early hours of Monday morning. The municipality is known to close businesses targeted in shootings, in order to limit the risk for surrounding residents, Het Parool reports.
On Monday morning someone opened fired on two men sitting in Cafe Zuid in De Pijp. The victims were seriously injured. According to Het Parool, the gunman was shooting at one or two criminals and one of the targets sot back.
Earlier that morning, shots were fired at a cafe on Ruys de Beerenbrouckstraat in Geuzenveld. As far as is known, no one was hurt - the cafe was closed at the time fo the shooting.
