Another teen arrested for double assassination on Rotterdam street
A 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the assassination of two men on Rijnauwensingel in Rotterdam in December. He is suspected of being involved in the preparation of this fatal shooting. The boy was 15 years old at the time, according to the police.
This boy is the fourth suspect to be arrested in this investigation. The other three suspects are all 18-years-old. One of them was arrested after the police found a Kalashnikov in his home. The police believe this was the weapon used in the shooting.
Gilbert Henrietta (26) and Lindomar Elisabeth (25) were gunned down while sitting in a car on Rhijnauwensingel around 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. The gunmen fired on them from a black Audi, which was later found burning in Ridderkerk. The Audi turned out to be stolen. Weapons experts determined that a Kalashnikov was used in this shooting.
The four boys arrested have different cultural backgrounds, according to the Telegraaf. Some of them were known to the police, but for nothing as serious as murder. The police are shocked. "Because of their age in combination with an automatic firearm they used in a residential area. That makes it even more shocking because they could just as easily have hit bystanders", a police spokesperson said to the Telegraaf.
Sources around the investigation told the Telegraaf that the police believe these boys were hired by someone else to commit these assassinations. They are still looking for the person who gave the order.
The police believe that Henrietta was the target of this attack, and that Elisabeth was just shot because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
