Reward offered for info on body found in car pulled from Dutch canal
The Dutch authorities offered a 15 thousand euros reward for information that leads to an arrest in the murder of Ralf Meinema. The 31-year-old man from Klazienaveen in Drenthe was found murdered in the trunk of a Mercedes, which was half submerged in the Stieltjeskanaal between Zandpol and Coevorden in March last year.
Despite almost a year of intensive investigation, there is still no trace of the perpetrators or their motive for the murder. The police believe Meinema was killed elsewhere before the Mercedes with his body in the trunk was dumped into the canal.
The police therefore decided to turn to the public for help in solving this murder. "The person who gives the police a tip that leads to the identity of the person or persons behind the death of Ralf Meinema, can claim the reward of 15,000 euros", the police said in a statement.
The police released a video of Ralf's mother calling for information on her son's murder. This murder case will also be discussed on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday.
