Rotterdam man dies from injuries sustained in brawl; One arrested
The police arrested a 27-year-old man from Schiedam in connection with the death of Jip Jurg from Rotterdam. The 32-year-old man got into a fight during the early hours of Saturday morning and was found dead in his home on Sunday. Autopsy revealed that he died of internal injury, the police said in a statement.
Jip's father called emergency services on Sunday after finding his son unconscious. When first responders arrived at the scene, he was already dead. The police launched an investigation to find out what Jip's last hours looked like.
The investigation revealed that Jip visited a cafe on Mauritsweg in Rotterdam with friends on Friday, January 26th. Around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, he and a friend went to a party in the Rotterdam theater. After about an hour Jip went left the theater and got into a fight. He then stepped into a taxi and went home.
The police call on people who witnessed the fight on Schouwburgplein, or know anything about what led to the disagreement, to come forward. Investigators would also like to talk to anyone who saw Jip between 3:30 a.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, including the taxi driver who picked him up from the theater.
