A ginger cat was caught taste-testing donuts in a Jamin store on the Rokin in Amsterdam on Saturday night. VVD city councilor Tjakko Dijk noticed the remarkable display as he walked by, recorded it and posted a video on Twitter.

The video shows the self satisfied cat going to town on a pink donut. Dijk wondered what the Dutch food safety authority NVWA would say about that.

The NVWA did not respond to his tweet, but many of the people who did pointed out that many restaurants need a live-in cat to deal with mice and rats. Some Twitter users were also concerned about whether eating donuts is good for the cat.

According to Het Parool, there was quite a commotion in the Dutch capital a few years ago when the NVWA implemented stricter rules for cats in Amsterdam's food industry. Cafe't Loosje and De Pasteibakkerij, among others, had to get rid of their cats.
