Seven Dutch universities in top 100 Best Global Universities ranking
Seven universities in the Netherlands made it into the top 100 of the Best Global Universities ranking. The University of Amsterdam and Utrecht University are the two best in the Netherlands, according to the ranking. They're respectively ranked 13th and 14th best in Europe and 55th and 57th in the world.
The researchers ranked a total of 1,250 universities from over 60 countries on 13 indicators that measure academic research performance and global and regional reputations. The University of Amsterdam got a global score of 71.4. The university scored well in its regional research reputation (13th place) and for its books (30th place). Its worst score was for international collaboration, only making it to 705th place.
Utrecht University's global score is 71.3 and its best score was also for its regional research reputation (26th place). The university also scored well on its citations. It got 36th place for its total citations, 34th place for the number of publications among the 10 percent more cited, and 37th place for the number of highly cited papers among the top 1 percent most cited.
The other Dutch universities in the top 100 are Erasmus University Rotterdam in 73rd place, Leiden University in 79th, VU University Amsterdam in 85th, Wageningen University in 88th, and University of Groningen in 94th. Radboud University Nijmegen just missed the top 100, making it to number 101.
Tilburg University and University of Twente are the bottom two Dutch universities in the ranking, getting 491st and 319th place respectively.
The top 10 of the Best Global Universities is dominated by universities in the United Kingdom. The top 10 includes five UK universities, two Swiss universities and one each from Denmark, France and Germany.
