Suspect arrested in Hengelo baby's death

A 31-year-old man from Hengelo was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of involvement in a one-year-old girl's death last week, NOS reports.

The police and emergency services responded to a home on Theresiastraat in Hengelo on Thursday last week after a report of a seriously injured child. The baby girl was rushed to the hospital, were she died a short time later.

Exactly how the child was hurt, is unclear. The police also did not reveal what relationship the suspect had with the girl.

The police are still investigating in the Hengelo home and also did a neighborhood survey, according to NOS. Several people who know the involved family were questioned.
