Police find €100,000 hidden among chips, cookies
The Amsterdam police arrested four people suspected of money laundering. They were caught moving over 100 thousand euros in bank notes - some packed into chips packets and cookie boxes - from scooters to a car, the Telegraaf reports.
At around 2:00 a.m. on July 31s, officers noticed a group of seven people around three scooters and a car with foreign license plates on Willem de Zwijgerlaan. The car doors were open and the people were moving packets from the scooters into the car.
When the officers approached, six of the seven men fled. The seventh stayed where he was, but threw away the car keys and claimed to have nothing to do with the car. He was arrested. The police also tracked down and arrested three men who fled on the scooters.
In the car the bundles of money were found. A total of over 100 thousand euros was seized.
The four arrested suspects are all from Amsterdam, between the ages of 20 and 25 years. Two are still in custody. The other two were released, but are still considered suspects.
