Heineken to help build a floating, water filtering pool in dirty NYC river

Heineken wants to make swimming in polluted New York City rivers a reality again buy helping build a floating pool that filters the dirty water. The 'Plus Pool Project' was already conceived in 2010, but the Dutch beer brewer is breathing new life into it by committing its name to the project, RTL Nieuws reports.

The floating pool is surrounded by clever water filters that clean up water from the rivers. It is estimated to cost 20 million dollars. Heineken is promising a $100,000 gift when 100,000 people sign the online petition for the Plus Pool. So far more than six thousand people have pledged their support.

Heineken previously invested in Miami city development under the title 'The Cities Project'.
