Amsterdam Airbnb host arrested for pushing tourist down the stairs

A young tourist was inured in Amsterdam on Saturday after getting into an argument with her Airbnb host. A video of the incident shows the young woman being pushed down a flight of stairs by a man. The man, 47-years-old from Amsterdam, was arrested, a police spokesperson confirmed to the Telegraaf.

The woman is a friend of South African photographer Zanele Muholi, whose work is currently exhibited in the Stedelijk Museum. Muholi posted the video on Instagram "Am so angry with this I couldn't even sleep. This is racism and can't be justified", she wrote with the video. "Violence on black bodies as you can see in this video."

The incident followed an argument between four tourists and the Amsterdam man, according to newspaper AD. The tourists rented the man's home on Potgieterstraat through house sharing site Airbnb. According to the newspaper, the four women had to be out of the home by 11:00 a.m., but were still there at 12:30 p.m.

The South African tourist was taken to hospital for treatment. She was discharged a short time later. She pressed charges against the Amsterdam man.

The police are investigating what happened.
