Heat wave to bring hot temperatures to Netherlands this week
Hot weather is in store for the Netherlands this weak, with a heat wave expected for the southern parts of the country, according to weather services Weerplaza and Weeronline.
Many inland areas of the Netherlands will see temperatures around 30 degrees today. The extreme south may even see their thermometers climb to 33 degrees. Along the coast will be slightly cooler with temperatures around 27 degrees, according to meteorological institute KNMI. If temperatures climb to 30 degrees in De Bilt, today will be the second tropical day of this year. The first was on May 27th.
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are also expected to such hit high temperatures. Wednesday wil be the coolest day of the week, with afternoon temperatures between 26 and 28 degrees expected in the south and between 19 and 24 degrees expected in the north.
The Dutch weather services consider a heat wave to be five consecutive days of afternoon temperatures reaching at least 25 degrees. Three of those five days must include maximum temps of 30 degrees or higher.
