Heavy traffic expected as school holidays begin

Traffic information service ANWB expects heavy traffic on Dutch roads on Friday afternoon as the May school holidays begin for primary and secondary schools across the country, AD reports.

The ANWB expects that most people who are vacationing in the Netherlands will leave for their destinations today. Roads to recreation areas in the middle and south of the Netherlands are expected to be especially busy. "Traffic jams are most likely on the highways around Amersfoort (A1, A28), the A12 from Utrecht to Arnhem and the roads to the Holland- and Zeeland coast", ANWB warns.

People leaving the country don't have to worry too much about extra traffic problems. Our neighboring countries don't have school holidays this week, according to AD.
