Large fire in Groningen Univ. dorm injures three

A fire that broke out in a student dorm on Nieuwe Ebbingestraat in Groningen on Monday left three people injured. One was taken to the hospital for treatment, the other two were treated at the scene. The fire department managed to extinguish the fire relatively quickly, Oog TV reports.

Firefighters responded en masse due to the belief that people were trapped in the burning dorm. This turned out not to be the case. The dorm was ventilated after the fire was extinguished.

The fire broke out on the second story of the building, according to Dagblad Van Het Noorden. The cause of the fire is still unclear.

Groningen: Na een snelle binnenaanval hebben we de brand kunnen bestrijden; we zijn brandmeester. Gaan ventileren.
