Green party leader the most googled Dutch politician since election debate
The televised election debate in the Carre theater in Amsterdam on Sunday led to peaked interest in GroenLinks leader Jesse Klaver. After the debate Klaver became the most Googled Dutch politician, taking the number one spot from PVV leader Geert Wilders, RTL Nieuws reports.
Wilders is now in second place, followed by VVD leader Mark Rutte and 50Plus leader Henk Krol.
Search engine Google created a special page for the Dutch parliamentary elections, happening on March 15th. The page shows figures for the most Googled questions related to the elections.
The queries about Jesse Klaver are mostly about himself. The top five questions about the GroenLinks leader include how old he is and who his father is. Many also want to know what Klaver's "real name' is. Klaver has a Moroccan father and Dutch-Indian mother. He took his mother's surname.
And while the VVD and PVV are the frontrunners in the polls, the D66 was the most Googled party over the past seven days, followed by GroenLInks. Queries about the PVV rose and fell over the past weeks.
