Nearly 11,500 hope to dine with King Willem-Alexander in royal birthday bash
A total of 11,493 people want to have dinner with King Willem-Alexander to celebrate his and their birthdays. They registered to be one of 150 people, whose birthday is also on April 27th, to have dinner with the King at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, the Royal House announced on Friday.
King Willem-Alexander turns 50 this year. He decided not to limit the celebration to King's Day festivities in Tilburg, but to also invite 150 Dutch who share his birthday to have dinner with him at the palace on April 28th.
The guests will be selected by random draw. They will be notified by no later than April 3rd.
After dinner at the palace there will be a festive moment on Dam Square, after which the Royal Palace in Amsterdam will be open to the public for 50 continuous hours. There will be a special program to celebrate the past 50 years in the Netherlands.
