Oncoming storm triggers code yellow weather warning
Meteorological institute KNMI triggered a code yellow weather warning because of a storm that is expected to hit the Netherlands on Monday afternoon. The storm will bring strong winds and heavy rainfall with it, according to the institute.
The code yellow warning applies to the entire Netherlands and takes effect at 3:00 p.m. The storm will hit the southwest of the country first before spreading across the rest of the Netherlands. Wind gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour can be expected. The storm may also be accompanied by hail and lightning.
The weather is expected to cause traffic problems and disrupt Carnival activities. The storm is expected to leave the Netherlands during Monday night.
