Dutch escape fire in Moroccan hotel
A massive fire raged in a five-star hotel in Marrakech, Morocco during the early hours of Sunday morning. All guests, including about 10 Dutch, managed to escape safely. No one was injured, NOS reports.
The hour started in the restaurant of the hotel Jardins De La Koutoubia around 1:00 a.m.
A Dutch couple whose room was right below the restaurant where the fire started, told Omroep Brabant how they fled outside and then returned to wake the other guests. "There were no other people on the street and we saw no staff. We also could not hear a fire alarm. Nobodiy did anything.", Corne van Rossen from Vlijmen said to the broadcaster. The couple cold not just stand and watch. "We went back inside and knocked on a number of doors to wake people up."
The guests were accommodated in another hotel. TUI Nederland, who booked the hotel for a number of the Dutch guests, will investigate whether the safety rules were followed, according to NOS.
