Icy roads, fog to make for a tough morning rush hour
Fog banks and slick, icy roads will make for a busy morning rush hour across the Netherlands on Tuesday. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow weather warning for the entire country.
Temperatures dropping below zero during the night means that roads will be icy this morning, especially local roads that aren't sprinkled with salt. Mist banks will also reduce visibility to less than 200 meters in man places. "All road users may be hindered. Adapt your driving style. Follow weather forecasts and warnings", the KNMI advises.
Both fog and iciness should dissipate during the course of the morning.
According to traffic information service VID, there is already a very long traffic jam before the Coentunnel towards Amsterdam. The traffic jam starts at Krommenie, N8. There are also problems on the A4 towards Rotterdam due to a truck having problems near Delft. And the A16 towards Rotterdam is temporarily closed at Dordrecht due to a too high truck trying to go through the tunnel.
