Airplane slams into Schiphol jetway

A TUI plane hit boarding bridge at Schiphol Airport on Monday. No one was injured, but it did cause significant delays for the over 250 people on board the Airbus A340-300, accordnig to the Telegraaf. .

The Dutch Safety Board launched an exploratory investigation into the incident. The passenger plane hit te bridge with an engine. "At that time there were no people on that bridge", a spoesperson said to the newspaper. Only material damage was done.

For travelers on the plane - on their way to the Dominican Republic - hitting the bridge was the second piece of bad luck on their journey. Their travels started with delays due to a fault on the plane, and then the replacement plane hitting a bridge. That meant that instead of leaving for their holiday on Monday morning, they are now only leaving on Tuesday.

"It is incredibly unfortunate, there goes one day of your holiday. Fortunately we have another two weeks", one traveler said to the Telegraaf. "We are accommodated in a hotel at Schiphol, which is all very well organized. We were told that we will not leave before Tuesday morning 9:00."

Passengers returning from the Dominican Republic also dealt with significant delays.
