ProRail to take charge during large train traffic disruptions

Rail manager ProRail and NS are working together to establish a team of specialists trained to deal with major disruptions to rail traffic. The team will be called the Centra Monitoring and Decisions Bod and will be headed by ProRail, NOS reports.

The team will gradually start working in January and should be completely operational in March. It will be able to change the trian timetable when things go wrong on the track, with the aim of decreasing delays and inconvenience to travelers. A number of NS employees are transferring to ProRail to strengthen the team.

Currently NS and ProRail make decisions together when there are problems on the track. This means that each time there is a disruption, there must first be discussions on which trains will be cancelled and which can continue. The new team will hopefully eliminate this step and be able to intervene quickly.
